Iran decreases gas consumption

Daily gas consumption in commercial, industrial and domestic sectors in Iran decreased to 2,400 billion cubic meters in May 8 to 14, SHANA reported.

The gas consumption has de acline d more than 65 million cubic meters compar ed to the same period of last year .

The consumers in country's domestic and commercial fields, as well as industrial plants consumed 983 million cubic meters of gas which indicate 87 million cubic meters decrease.

Iran's domestic and commercial sectors gas consumption reached 385 billion cubic meters i n 2010 , while the figure attained 114 billion cubic meters in industrial sector .

Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Javad Owji says the country's daily production of natural gas has reached 600 million cubic meters (mcm) in the current Iranian calendar year, which started on March 21, 2010, reported Press TV

Iran's proved natural gas reserves hold 29.6 trillion cubic meters, according BP report published in 2010.

Iran has the world's second-largest natural gas reserves after Russia, but the U.S. and UN sanctions deterring investment by western firms with expertise and technology have slowed its development as a major exporter. Energy officials have said gas production in Iran stands at 600 million cubic meters a day.
