Partners in energy projects spend over $250 million under contracts and purchase orders in January-March in Azerbaijan

In January-March, under contracts and purchase orders within projects operated by the British BP in Azerbaijan amounted to $287 million, BP's report on the first quarter says.

In January-March, under contracts and purchase orders within projects operated by the British BP in Azerbaijan amounted to $287 million, BP's report on the first quarter says.

Last year BP's costs under contracts and purchase orders in Azerbaijan amounted to $1.03 billion compared to $982 million in 2009.

In particular, in January-march the cost of contracts for small and medium enterprises (totally 135) amounted to $56 million, state-owned companies (19) - $7 million, joint enterprises with local partners (16) - $98 million. Costs of foreign contractors in the country last year amounted to $126 million.

About $0.87 million was spent on social projects during the year. In particular, the costs within the project to develop Azerbaijan's offshore Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields amounted to $0.22 million, Shah Deniz - $0.09 million, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi- Erzurum pipelines - $0.5 million. BP has spent $0.06 million within its own social responsibility projects.
