By late this month, SOCAR will complete 2D geophysical studies on the onshore Shikhi Gaya area, a source in SOCAR said on Tuesday.
The area is located on the territory between the Gobustan settlement and Shamakhi region of Azerbaijan.
The company representative said by the end of the month the work is planned to be completed.
A source said earlier that the process of analysis and interpretation of the received data is envisaged by late 2011.
"Also, it is expected to complete drilling of the second cored well by late 2011," the source said.
He said drilling of the first cored well has been already completed.
According to the source, a customer of the work is the "Azneft" Production Unit.
