Iran 's wheat production will increase to 13.5 million tons in current solar year (started on March 20, 2011), IRNA reported quoting head of plant production of Iran Agriculture Ministry Majid Khalili Khoshnoud as saying
"After cutting subsidies, the Commerce Ministry predicted production of 9.5 million tons of wheat to meet the country's wheat demand," he said.
By increase of wheat price on global market private sector become active in purchase of wheat and barley from farmers.
Iran 's unprocessed wheat products exports are predicted to increase by $4.5 billion in current solar year.
Currently 90 percent of Iran's food consumption is provided by domestic units, he added.
