The Turkmenbashi refinery has processed more than 2.1 million tons since early 2011. This exceeds last year's figures, the ministry of oil and gas industry said.

"The coastal facilities of the Turkmenbashi refining complex have processed 2 million 196,500 tons of hydrocarbons since early 2011," the ministry said.

The Turkmenbashi refinery produced different types of gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, lubricants and coke.

Turkmenistan plans to bring the oil refining capacity up to 15 million tons a year in 2015, by 2020 - up to 20 million tons, in 2025 - up to 22 million tons, in 2030 - up to 30 million tons of oil.

According to the approved plans, this will be achieved by building three new refineries and modernizing existing ones.
