Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug. 6 / Trend /

Iran will launch six wells in Phase 10 of the South Pars gas field by the end of the week, SHANA reported quoting the contractor for the development of Phases 9 and 10, South Pars Esmaeil Galehdari as saying.

"The gas production in this Phase will be operational by the end of this week and produce 17 million cubic meters per day," he said.

He noted all gas wells in Phase 10 will be operational by September 22 and currently 7 wells in Phase 9 operating while 5 other wells will start producing gas in winter.

South Pars Phase 6, 7 and 8 previously provided gas for refineries of Phase 9 and 10 by starting the production of 600 million cubic foot gas Phase 10 would feed refineries in Phase 9 and 10 and increase sour gas production of Phase 6, 7 and 8 which would injects to Aghajari oil field

Currently, Phases 9 and 10 alongside Phases 6, 7 and 8 (33 million cubic meter of gas) pump 50 million cubic meters of sweet gas per day for country's gas network.

Iran considers Phases 9 and 10 to be significant projects in the South Pars oil and gas field development and expects to extract 80,000 barrels of condensate per day for export, produce one million tons ethane for petrochemical purposes and more than one million tons natural gas

Iran South Pars oil and gas field is one of the largest in the world and predicts up to $130 billion in revenues per year.
