Turkmenistan, China to prepare special partnership program in oil and gas sector

The Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline was commissioned in 2009. Over 14 billion cubic meters were exported through this gas pipeline, Turkmen media reported.

"At present, Turkmen natural gas is supplied to China in complete accordance with the contractual obligations of the parties," the statement made at the first meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation, held in Ashgabat yesterday, said. At present, their total volume exceeds 14 billion cubic meters."

The programs were successfully implemented to jointly develop gas-bearing areas of the right bank of the Amu Darya, to construct a gas processing complex and drill new wells in Southern Yoloten.

The priority cooperation areas were determined at the meeting. In particular, the matter rests in the issues related to the increase in gas supplies from Turkmenistan to China.

The need was stressed to prepare a special program covering various aspects of the partnership in the oil and gas sector, including such areas as professional personnel training for oil and gas sector and the information exchange.

Liu Tienan, the new head of the National Energy Administration, the heads of the State Agency for Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources under the Turkmen President and the representatives of the structural units of oil and gas industry of the country attended the meeting.

The next meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Subcommittee on Energy Cooperation will be held in China next year.
