The volume of petrochemical products increased by 20 percent for the last five months of current solar year (started on March 20, 2011), ILNA quoted production manager of National Petrochemical Company Ali Mohammad Bossaghzadeh as saying.
"Iran plans to increase petrochemical products this year," he said. "However, we still import some petrochemical catalysts."
He said that the country's production capacity will increase by launching phases 15 and 16 at South Pars oil and gas field.
At present, Iran's production capacity is 54.4 million tons, while more than 17 million tons have been produced for the last five months.
The production of petrochemical products is expected to reach up to 46 million tons in Iran by the end of the current year.
