Iran will call on the OPEC members to maintain current oil production rate at the next meeting, Shana reported quoting Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Ghasemi as saying.

OPEC's next meeting will be held in Vienna on Dec.14. Iran holds the rotating presidency of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

"If OPEC members keep current production rate, the current oil prices, are quite fair, will remain unchanged," he said.

Iran demands OPEC members to keep the current production rate since the issue is of interest of both producers and consumers.

Ghasemi noted as the OPEC president Iran will support the current production rate at the next gathering of the organization.

Despite OPEC's call to keep current production rate Saudi Arabia has increased its oil production in August to 9.760 million barrels of crude oil per day.
