Rompetrol plans to start drilling two wells in Romania, said in an interview to Trend Rompetrol Group CEO Saduakas Meraliyev.

"We're going to start drilling on two blocks of oil in Romania. In the first block Satubari we intend to begin drilling in late October this year. We plan to proceed second unit, Fakshany, in May next year" - said Meraliyev.

According to him, Satubari block will be developed with the Romanian partner, and Fakshany block - on their own.

"We are appealing Fakshany unit, in which, forecasts, even by the standards of Kazakhstan, are very good. We are talking about tens of millions of tons of oil. As long as I'm afraid to say that we are talking about hundreds of millions of tons", - said Meraliyev.

"KazMunaiGaz" national company acquired 100% stake in Rompetrol Group in 2003.

Today, "KMG" has two refineries in Romania, 7 of their own depots, as well as fairly extensive network of gas stations not only in this country, but also in France, Spain, Moldova, Bulgaria and Georgia.
