Around 14 units of 110-kilovolt and 29 units of 35-kilovolt substations were constructed and commissioned for five years of Bakielektrikshebeke's distribution and sale of electricity in Baku, the company's chief Baba Rzayev said in an interview on the New Azerbaijan Party's website this week.
Mr. Rzayev said that 128 transformer points were built during this period, 400 were repaired and about 2000 kilometres of electrical transmission lines were laid by the company during the five years.
He said: "At present, the construction of five 110-kilovolt and 16 units of 35-kilovolt substations is currently under construction and technical wastage decreased by six per cent to 10 per cent."
A training centre fitted out with the world's largest electrical equipment manufacturers is expected to open soon in Baku.
Mr. Rzayev went to say that at present, modern meters, working on the basis of SMS smart are being installed in the Nasimi district of Baku to improve the accounting system. These meters were installed in 128 houses resulting in energy savings of 22.1 per cent. The fees collected for the used electric power increased by 54.9 per cent.
