The Environment Department of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) conducts regular environmental monitoring on its temporary storage and emissions of its units and enterprises, the government reported.
Monitoring is conducted in accordance with SOCAR's waste management plan. Carried out annually, the monitoring serves to provide a safer system of waste management which includes recycling, and the disposal and destruction of wastes formed in its production areas as well as the elimination of negative factors impacting on the environment.
Additionally monitoring is important in terms of applying appropriate technology to work taking place in the reconstruction of the company's waste centre. It covers not only land, but also production sites in the Caspian Sea.
