Iran produced 3.597 million barrels of crude oil per day in September, ranking the second among the Organization of petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) member states, accounting for 12 percent of the organization's output.
OPEC's output totaled 29.896 million barrels of crude per day in September. Saudi Arabia topped the list of producers with 9.586 barrels per day output, the Pana news agency reported. Iraq and Kuwait ranked the third and the fourth.
Iran has restored its place as OPEC's second major oil exporter, Shana reported quoting Iran's OPEC Governor Mohammad Ali Khatibi as saying.
The OPEC in its Annual Statistical Bulletin published in May put Nigeria ahead of Iran with 2.464 million barrels export per day.
According to OPEC, Iran exported 2.246 million cubic meters of oil per day in 2010.
