Participation in DEPA privatization depends on SOCAR
Azerbaijan, Baku, November 2/ Trend, E. Ismailov
Whether SOCAR will partake in the privatization of the Greek DEPA gas company depends on its choice as to Azerbaijan's gas export routes to Europe, a SOCAR official told reporters on Wednesday.
"SOCAR maintains its eagerness and is exploring the opportunity to join the privatization process, but one of the factors in this issue is choosing a route," he said.
DEPA is a stockholders of the ITGI, which aims to export Azerbaijani gas from the Shah Deniz field to Europe. At the moment, the shareholders of the Shah Deniz Consortium are examining proposals from the pipeline consortia to choose gas export route.
The Greek Ggovernment on May 23 approved the privatization program, which should bring earnings of around 50 billion euros to the country's treasury before 2015.
