SOCAR expands gas station network in Georgia

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to commission a new gas filling and entertainment complex in the Georgian town of Urbnisi in the near future, a source in SOCAR Energy Georgia, which represents SOCAR's interests in Georgia, told Trend on Tuesday.

He said the new complex is located on the Tbilisi-Gori highway near Urbnisi.

"Cost of the new complex is estimated at $10 million," the source said.

At present, SOCAR has a network of 80 gas stations in Georgia.

SOCAR Georgia Petroleum is engaged in sales of Azerbaijani oil products in Georgia. It started its activity in 2006 and is SOCAR Energy Georgia's 100-percent owned subsidiary.

SOCAR has a number of gas stations in Azerbaijan. Gas stations are also gradually opening under the SOCAR brand in Ukraine. SOCAR is currently working to establish a network of gas stations in Romania.
