Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 23 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

In January-November, Baku International Sea Trade Port transported 1.55 million tons of oil cargo, which is 17 percent less than the same period of last year, a source in the port told Trend on Friday.

"The port transported 1.55 million tons of oil cargo within eleven months," the source said. "The transportation volumes decreased by 17 percent in January-November."

The downward tendency in the port's oil cargo transshipment from the Central Asia is due to redirecting part of volumes to Sangachal oil terminal.

The Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped 1.99 million tons of oil cargo in 2010 which is less by 21 percent compared to 2009. The rate of decline in 2010 was also due to overall decline in the transit of the Kazakh and Turkmen oil.

In 2009, the Baku Port transshipped 2.5 million tons of oil cargo, which is 10 percent less than in 2008. In total, in 2009 the port transshipped 5.1 million tons of cargo.
