Kazakh Aktau sea port cuts transshipment of oil cargo

The Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transshipped about 8.032 million tons of oil cargo in 2011 compared to 9.56 million tons in 2010, the Port said on Monday.

The Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transshipped about 8.032 million tons of oil cargo in 2011 compared to 9.56 million tons in 2010, the Port said on Monday.

In December the port transshipped 554,700 tons of oil-loading cargo compared to 688,500 tons transshipped in November.

Some oil being transshipped through the Aktau Port is transported to Baku from where it is delivered to the Black Sea Port of Georgia via the railway.

Meanwhile, the total volume of dry goods transshipped in 2011 amounted to 4.072 million ton, including 2.014 millions tons of hardware, 303,000 tons of grain and 322,000 tons of other cargo. The volume of ferry traffic in 2011 was 1.433 million tons.

Meanwhile, the Port transshipped 191,600 tons of hardware, 55,900 tons of grain and 14,800 tons of other cargo in December.

The Aktau port received 2,098 ships in 2011. The figure was 2,085 in 2010.
