The project on construction of main gas pipeline Almaty-Taldykorgan will be launched in Kazakh Almaty region in 2012, Novosti-Kazakhstan reports with reference to the region's akimat (regional executive body).
The project will be implemented within two years.
The high-pressure gas pipeline with length of 268 kilometers and worth 20 billion tenge ($134 million) will be built from Gas Bridge between Kazakhstan-China and Bukhara Gas Bearing Region-Tashkent-Bishkek-Almaty (BGR-TBA) main gas pipelines under the project.
The project also envisages construction the necessary facilities along the pipeline - knots of gas, gas purification devices, roads and technological communication and power supply stations.
The pipeline will supply gas to several cities and villages of Almaty region and to region center Taldykorgan and the Tekely city which have promising commercial potential in particular.
