Azerbaijan has suspended gas supply to Georgia and Turkey via the South Caucasus gas pipeline due to technical problems on a platform located at the Shah Deniz field, a source in oil and gas market told Trend on Tuesday.

As BP Azerbaijan, technical operator of the field development, told Trend on Tuesday, during the planned maintenance work in the power system of Shah Deniz platform an automatic shutdown system of the platform went off, as a result all the processes were suspended on it.

Production from all four wells was also suspended, the company said.

At present, maintenance work on the power system of the platform, as well as on restoring operation is underway. After their completion, by the evening production work will be restored on the platform in previous mode.

During the operations on the platform safety of personnel and equipment will be fully ensured.

Reserves of Shah Deniz field are estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.

The contract to develop the offshore Shah Deniz field was signed June 4, 1996.

Participants to the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 percent, Statoil - 25.5 percent, NICO - 10 percent, Total - 10 percent, LukAgip - 10 percent, TPAO - 9 percent, SOCAR-10 percent.
