Petroleum, oil and lubricants worth 427 million tenge ($2.88 million) are taken out of retail sale in Kazakhstan due to technical regulation violations, the head of Monitoring and Analysis department of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology under the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Trade Aigul Kasimova said on Thursday, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.
"A ban was imposed on purchase of 367 oil products consignments worth 427 million tenge following examination in 2011," Kasimova said at the press conference.
Kasimova said that 328 oil products examinations were carried out in Kazakhstan in 2011. About 215 of them revealed technical regulation violations, including difference between octane rating.
Kasymova said that all low-quality petroleum products were withdrawn from sale at gas station and directed to own needs, or returned to its suppliers. The administrative penalties were imposed on people guilty of technical requirement violating.
