Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.21 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

In January, Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped 124,000 tons of oil cargo, which is 25 percent less than the same period of last year, a source in the port told Trend on Tuesday.

He said reducing oil cargo transshipment from Central Asia by the port is due to their redirection to the oil terminal, located in the Sangachal settlement.

In 2011 the port transshipped 1.74 million tons of oil cargo, which is 13 percent less than in 2010.

The Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped 1.99 million tons of oil cargo in 2010 which is less by 21 percent compared to 2009. The downward tendency in the port's oil cargo transshipment from the Central Asia is due to redirecting part of volumes to Sangachal oil terminal.

In 2009, the Baku Port transshipped 2.5 million tons of oil cargo, which is 10 percent less than in 2008. In total, in 2009 the port transshipped 5.1 million tons of cargo.
