Tajikistan significantly increased electricity export of and stopped its import, Avesta.tj reported on Friday.
The electricity export amounted to 23 million kilowatt per hour or $643,200 in January, increasing by 54.6 percent compared to the similar period of 2011.
The country's only electricity consumer is Afghanistan.
According to Barki Tojik company, the daily electricity export to Afghanistan is 110 kilowatt.
Earlier, Tajikistan withdrew from the Central Asian joint energy system.
