Electricity consumption increases in Turkey

Electricity consumption has increased by 7.4 percent in Turkey in March 2012 compared to the same month in 2011, reacheing 20.649 billion kw / h, the state-owned electricity transmission company said on Wednesday.

Electricity production in Turkey in thermal power plants owned by the state during this period declined by 32.6 percent compared to the same period in 2011, amounting to 2.58 billion kw / h. electricity production at the state-owned hydropower stations in Turkey has grown by 45 percent to 4.118 billion kw / h.

In the private power plants in Turkey were produced 14.490 billion kw / h of electricity during this period.

Turkey imported 415.2 million kW / h of electricity during this period. Exports of electricity from Turkey totaled 384.2 million kilowatt / hour in March.

Electricity production in Turkey increased by 10.1 percent in the first quarter of 2012, compared to the same period in 2011, amounting to 62.9 billion kw / h. During this period, 1.191 billion kw / h of electricity were imported.
