SOCAR's Azerigaz production association plans to launch the second branch of the Altiagac-Agsu main gas pipeline on May 15. A fire occurred along the pipeline in mid-April, Azerigaz told Trend today.
Gas leakage occurred on the 1,200 millimeter gas pipeline Altiagac-Agsu on April 13. The fire started. Gas transportation through the line was halted and the fire was extinguished.
Altiagac-Agsu line is part of the Mozdok-Gazimagomed gas pipeline through which gas is supplied to Russia. The problems with the gas pipeline did not affect the gas supply to Russia.
Azerigaz said that construction work has been completed within laying the second line. At present, test operations are underway. After commissioning a new branch of the gas pipeline, gas transportation through the old line will be stopped.
"After laying a new line, the old one will not be dismantled," the association said. "It will be preserved as reserve."
The length of a new branch of the gas pipeline was about 10 kilometers, diameter - 1,220 mm. Construction work is trust "Neftegazstroy" company
