Nabucco gas pipeline will be ready for transportation when gas from the second stage of Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field development is ready, Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH spokesman Christian Dolezal told Trend.

"We'll have the pipeline ready when the gas is available," he said.

Last week the representative of Austrian OMV said that the construction of Nabucco pipeline may start in 2015 and be completed in 2018.

According to Dolezal, the consortium of the project is aligning efforts with the timeline of the producers.

"After we have an FID /final investment decision/ we can build the pipeline within three to four years," he said.

Nabucco is one of the Southern Gas Corridor projects, which is designed to transport gas from the Caspian region and Middle East to the European countries. Gas to be produced within the second phase of Azerbaijani Shah Deniz gas field development is considered as the main source for the project.

Nabucco West is a new conception, which was proposed by Nabucco consortium, and according to which the pipeline will be laid from the Turkish-Bulgarian border to the Austrian Baumgarten.

Nabucco project's current shareholders are Bulgarian Energy Holding, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas, Austrian OMV, German RWE and Hungary's FGSZ.

At present, the consortium of Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field development considers the options to export gas to the southern and central Europe, which include Nabucco West and SEEP. By May 16, these two projects are expected to submit their formal proposals to the Shah Deniz consortium. The pipeline route to Central European direction will be chosen by late June, 2012.

The final decision on a pipeline route to export Azerbaijani gas to the European markets is expected to be made in 2013.
