Iran's offshore operations at its joint South Pars oil and gas field will face a shortage of money and affected by a shortage of experienced personnel.
Mousa Souri, the head of South Pars Oil and Gas Company, attributed the lack of specialists to the newness of offshore gas drilling for Iran, Fars news agency reports.
Director of South Pars Oil and Gas praised the work done by contractors like the Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) and SADRA, saying they had responded to the demands of the operations.
At present, there are 11 offshore drilling platforms operating in South Pars with the 12th platform heading to its destination to be installed, Souri added. He hoped that the number will increase by 15 or 16 platforms this year (Iran's solar year ends on March 19).
Iran and Qatar share the 9,700 square kilometer South Pars gas and oil field-lay. Qatar, however, is far ahead of Iran in exploiting the field's resources. It has intensified developing South Pars while Iran suffers international sanctions and technical and financial obstacles
