In 2019-2020, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) intends to start an output of fuel corresponding to the highest ecological standards in the world, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists on Wednesday.

He said at present the company has the capacity to produce diesel fuel that meets Euro-6 standard. There is not such a possibility with gasoline and the maximum limit is the fuel of the Euro-3 standard.

"Gasoline of the highest ecological standard may be produced after the construction of a new oil and gas processing petrochemical complex in 2019-2020," Abdullayev said.

The complex will include the construction a petrochemical company, a refinery with a capacity of 10 million tons per year, as well as a gas processing plant with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year. Depth of processing at the plant will be about 95 per cent, while the yield of light oil products will be 85 per centş

Taking it into perspective, the capacity of the gas processing plant is planned to increase up to 15 billion cubic meters a year. Within construction of the new complex it is planned to create a heat-and-power engineering centre with capacity of 250 megawatts.

The complex will be located on 1500 hectares, in 60 kilometres from Baku. The entire OGPC complex is scheduled to open by late 2020.
