Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov urged the heads of the fuel-energy complex to ensure full implementation of the plans outlined in the approved program of industry development till 2016, the Turkmen government said today.
"In particular, the matter rests in launching industrial exploitation of the largest gas field Galkynysh and other hydrocarbon deposits discovered in the country, completing the construction of the "East-West" gas pipeline, as well as modern oil and gas processing and chemical facilities," the report said.
The country's major fields are concentrated in Mary region "Southern Yoloten - Osman" and Yashlar field (recently merged and renamed as Galkynysh) with total resources estimated by local geologists and British GCA at 26.2 trillion cubic meters.
The Turkmengaz state concern deals with the first stage of industrial development of Galkynysh field. It signed service contracts worth $9.7 billion in total with Gulf Oil & Gas Fze, Petrofac International LLC (UAE), NPC Chuanging Drilling Engineering Company (PRC) and Consortium of LG Internatinal Cоrp and Hyudai Engineering (South Korea) in December 2009.
