Spain interested in SOCAR projects

Spain is interested in participating in SOCAR projects in Azerbaijan and abroad, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Gonzalo de Benito Sekades said at a meeting with SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev during his visit to Baku on Tuesday, SOCAR said on Tuesday.

Spain is interested in participating in SOCAR projects in Azerbaijan and abroad, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Gonzalo de Benito Sekades said at a meeting with SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev during his visit to Baku on Tuesday, SOCAR said on Tuesday.

Rovnag Abdullayev said Azerbaijan established a strong legal framework to promote and protect foreign investment and has a rich experience. The company SOCAR is ready to cooperate with major foreign companies, taking into account national interests and the principles of economic efficiency.

Abdullayev said the proposals of Spanish companies, wishing to participate in SOCAR project, will be considered.

SOCAR includes production association Azneft (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea), Production Association Azerkimya (chemical industry), production association Azerigas (gas distribution).

SOCAR is the only producer of oil products in the country having two oil refineries and also owns gas stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Romania. It bought a large network of filling stations in Switzerland last year. SOCAR is also a co-owner of the largest Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim. The company carries out oil trade in various regions of the world under the banner of SOCAR Trading. SOCAR includes Azneft, Azerkimya and Azerigas.
