Malaysia interested in cooperation development with Turkmenistan

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman today, Altyn Asyr TV channel said today.

The parties expressed interest in steady multi-faceted cooperation, especially in the strategic energy sector, the information said.

It is also stressed that the long term partnership between Turkmenistan and the largest Malaysian company Petronas Charigali is an example of the effective use of existing capacity. Petronas Charigali carries out exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the Turkmen Caspian shelf and assists in training local specialists.

The Malaysian senior representative expressed interest and willingness of the business circles of his country to continue taking an active part in future projects of national and international importance. It was also stated that the Malaysian side intends to actively develop business contacts through the entrepreneurship.

Malaysia's interest in the Turkmen market is primarily associated with the Petronas Charigali's activity, working in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea since 1996. The company started commercial oil production and exports in Turkmenistan.
