KazMunaiGas head: Kazakhstan to accelerate pipeline construction

Kazakhstan will intensify Beyneu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline construction, KazMunaiGas Chairman of the Board Lazzat Kiinov, said.

"Given the strong dependence on Russian gas imports for consumers, and on Uzbek gas, the joint Kazakh-Chinese company intends to intensify the construction of the Beyneu-Bozoi-Shymkent pipeline," Kiinov said.

He said President Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed to build pipeline systems to will ensure the gasification of the central regions in the country, including the capital.

"Now we are engaged in a gasification project for Astana and the central regions. In 2011, a feasibility study was completed and the opinion of the state expertise was obtained.," the head of the national company said.

He added that by building and starting operating these pipelines, KazMunaiGas will be able to complete the formation of technically integrated gas transport system and thus form a complete cycle of the value chain in the gas business.
