Some 140 kilometers of East-West gas pipeline constructed in Turkmenistan

The construction of East-West gas pipeline is gaining momentum, the ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan said on Thursday.

It is planned to complete the construction of the pipeline with length of 325 kilometers on the western territory by 2014.

Welding work of the pipe with length of 140 kilometers is being carried out. The experts of Turkmennebitgazgurnama trust and employees of the State Concern Turkmennebitgazgurlushik carried out high quality pipe weld with diameter of 1,420 mm" the information said.

The construction of the East-West gas pipeline with length of 800-1,000 kilometers will connect all gas lines - export and domestic into a single ring. The approximate cost of the pipeline is more than $2 billion.

This pipeline is scheduled to be commissioned by mid-2015. The project was launched on May 31, 2010 at the gas compressor station (GCS) Shatlyk in Mary region in the east.

Laying of the pipeline with capacity of 30 billion cubic meters per year is carried out by the state concern Turkmengas and Turkmennebitgazgurlushik.

Such fields as Dovletabat, Malay, Yashlar and Galkynysh are located on the territory of Mary province
