Saudi State Oil Company "Aramco" has today announced about discovery of a new gas field in the Red Sea, "Al Arabiya" TV channel reported on Wednesday.
The field is located in 26 kilometers from the port of Dahab in Al-Maghmura. The first well drilled on the field works with an output of 10 million cubic feet per day.
Saudi Oil Minister Ali al-Naimi said that several wells will be drilled on the field to determine the exact rate of gas reserves. Work will begin later on the production of natural gas, for which additional investment from the public treasury will be attracted.
