If South Korea wins the construction tender for Turkey's second nuclear power station "Sinop," the UAE could become the project's second partner, "Anadolu" agency reported Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz as saying on Thursday.
"We received a proposal from UAE officials on participation in the 'Sinop' NPS with South Korea," Yildiz said.
The tender for construction in the Sinop province of Turkey's second NPS is currently underway. Selection will be made between Canada, China, South Korea and Japan.
Yildiz has reported that the Turkish plant will begin producing electricity in 2019. Each of the four proposed blocks will produce 1200 megawatts for a total of 4800 megawatts, and launch in one-year intervals.
