Turkmen refineries processed 5,260.000 hydrocarbons since the beginning of the year, increasing the amount of production of various petroleum product varieties, a source in the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry stated on Tuesday.

Production of high quality gasoline reached 1.5 million tons, diesel fuel 1.6 million tons and growth rates amounted to 105.6 and 101.6 per cent.

A national programme for the oil and gas industry for the period till 2030, which provides for increasing the volume of oil products and improvement of their quality as a result of hydrocarbon processing, is being implemented in the country.

Turkmenistan is planning to increase its oil refining capacity to 15 million tons a year in 2015, to 20 million tons in 2020, 22 million tons in 2025 and 30 million tons in 2030.

According to the approved plans this will be achieved through the construction of three new refineries and modernisation of existing facilities including in the city of Turkmenbashi and the refinery at Seidi, located in the east, where the winners of the tender have recently been announced.

At the same time the country has an annual production of approximately 10 million tons of oil, most of which is processed in local factories.

Construction of facilities for the production of gasoline, toluene, xylene and their derivatives will be launched at the largest enterprises in the country with a refinery in Turkmenbashi in near future.

Today it manufactures various types of gasoline, kerosene, diesel oil, lubricating and universal oils and coke.
