Iran has increased its sweet gas production to 35 million cubic meters to compensate for the reduction of gas imports from Turkmenistan, the Fars News Agency reported.
National Iranian Gas Company Director Javad Owji said in October 19 that Iran's gas consumption will reach 600 million cubic meters per day in the upcoming winter.
The Iranian national gas pipeline network currently has the capacity to transfer 700 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said on Monday that once all the phases of South Pars gas field come on stream, Iran will no longer need to import gas.
Qasemi said earlier that Iran has no difficulty fueling up the northern and northeastern power plants.
