ExxonMobil company is interested in Kazakhstan's unconventional hydrocarbon resources, Kazakh Industry and New Technologies Ministry told Trend via e-mail on Tuesday.
"Within the Memorandum signed between the Kazakh National Company KazMunaiGas, Kazakh National Company KazMunaiGas Exploration Production and ExxonMobil Kazakhstan North Caspian Onshore Exploration Limited company, ExxonMobil expressed interest in unconventional hydrocarbon resources," the Ministry said.
In particular, ExxonMobil expressed interest in the possibilities of studying of Kazakhstan's shale gas resources potential, the Ministry said.
According to Kazakh Industry and New Technologies Ministry, shale gas reserves in the country have not been explored yet. Moreover, works on the definition of promising areas for search, exploration and exploitation of shale gas have not been started yet.
ExxonMobil is the world leader in the exploration and production of unconventional hydrocarbon resources.
