Numerous violations of law on subsoil use revealed in Kazakhstan in 2012

Numerous violations of the law on subsoil use were revealed in Kazakhstan in 2012, Kazakh Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbayev said at an enlarged board meeting of the ministry today.

"The numerous violations of the legislation on Subsoil and Subsoil Use were revealed following inspections," he said. "Orders were then made to eliminate violations."

The amount of administrative fines was five million tenge ($1 - 150.6 tenge).

The minister added that the ministry monitored 203 contracts for subsoil use, including two held in asset management. In particular around 61 contracts for hydrocarbon exploration, 56 for hydrocarbon production, 73 combined contracts for hydrocarbon exploration and production and 13 contracts undertaken upon the PSA terms were checked.

Moreover, the State Inspection Committee in the Oil and Gas Complex of the Oil and Gas Ministry in 2012 conducted 30 inspections towards subsoil users, including seven unscheduled inspections.
