According to forecasts, around 25.35 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity will be generated in Azerbaijan in 2013 compared to 21.3 billion kilowatt / hours in 2012, a source in the energy market told Trend today.
Azerbaijan produced 20 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity in 2011. Electricity production volumes in the country, as well as energy production capacity increased.
Most of the total electricity volume produced in Azerbaijan originated in thermal power stations, and only a small part was produced by hydroelectric means.
The capacity of power plants owned by Azerenergy exceeds 6,000 megawatts.
Azerenergy's balance sheet includes more than 200 substations with a capacity of 500, 330, 220 and 110 kV, as well as six hydroelectric and 13 thermal power plants.
