The Geophysics and Geology Department of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has drilled a geological and engineering borehole for the construction of a platform on the Goshadash prospective structure in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, according to a statement posted on the company's official website on Tuesday.
The depth of the drilled well is 302 metres, the statement said.
Earlier, SOCAR conducted drilling of the first exploration well on the Goshadash prospective structure.
SOCAR includes production association Azerneft (companies producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azkimya production association (chemical industry) and Azerigaz production association (distribution and sale of gas).
The State Oil Company also has a number of processing and service enterprises as well as institutions engaged in geophysical and drilling activities.
