By 2020, the U.S. can not import, will be able to export oil instead of importing it thanks to the use of new technologies of extracting oil from shale deposits, the director of McKinsey Consulting company in Silicon Valley Matt Rogers said at the round table "Development of a strategy for transition of Kazakhstan to the" green economy.""

"The fact It was hard to imagine 10 years ago that the U.S. could turn from an importer to an exporter of oil. Today, thanks to the technological revolution in energy sector, by 2020 the U.S. will not import, but export oil, extracting it from shale deposits," Rogers said.

According to him, today the U.S. focuses on producing light oil from shale gas.

"Shale oil is now already produced in the United States, and soon we will be able to cover our needs for light oil. This will be a real revolution. We are reaching the moment when we will be able to cover our domestic demand for light crude oil extracting it from shale deposits," he said.

According to him, the United States increases its monthly light crude oil production by 75,000 barrels every month.

"By 2020, we can reach an output of approximately six to seven million barrels of light oil per year. And, if you had told me 10 years ago that the United States will produce more oil than Saudi Arabia, I would say that you had gone mad. But things will change by 2020 with the development of new energy technologies,"- he concluded.

Matt Rogers was an adviser to the Minister of Energy in Obama's administration, was involved in developing the strategy and the stimulating measures package for modernization of the energy sector of the United States.
