BTC transports 10 mn tons of oil in Jan.-April

The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 9.77 million tons of oil in Jan.-April 2013 compared to 10.24 million tons in January-April 2012, SOCAR told Trend on Friday.
In 2012, the BTC transported 29.67 million tons of Azerbaijani oil compared to over 32.2 million tons in 2011.

As of May 1, 2013, some 215.22 million tons of oil were transported since the start of the pipeline's operation.

In January-April, nearly 9.67 million tons of oil were supplied to the world markets from the Turkish port of Ceyhan, compared to 10.08 million tons in January-April 2012. As of May 1, 2013, some 213.33 million tons of Azerbaijani oil were supplied from Ceyhan to the world markets since the start of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline's operation.

In 2012, some 29.3 million tons of oil were supplied from the Turkish port of Ceyhan to the world market, compared to over 32.08 million tons in 2011.

The BТС's total length is 1,768 kilometers including a 443-kilometre section running via Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometre section traversing Georgia and a 1076-kilometre section passing through Turkey. The pipeline's construction began in April 2003. The first oil was marketed on May 18, 2005.

The shareholders of BTC are BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.90 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), TRAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.50 percent), Conoco Philips (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
