Aktau port reduces oil cargo transshipment in January-May

In January-May 2013, the Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transshipped 2.97 million tons of oil cargo compared to about 3.05 million tons in the same period of 2012, the port said today.

According to the information, the port handled about 7.6 million tons of oil in 2012 compared to more than 8.03 million tons in 2011.

Some oil transshipped through Aktau is transported to Baku, from where it is supplied to the Black Sea Port of Georgia via railway.

In particular, in January-May, 299,300 tons of the total volume of handled cargo accounted for hardware, 441,000 tons - ferry cargo, 193,000 tons - grain and 255,200 tons - other goods.

In January-May, the port handled 4.16 million tons of cargo, or 6.3 percent more than the expected volume.

In January-May, the Aktau port received 692 ships.
