Oil processing hits over 3.3 million tons in Turkmenistan

Since early 2013 the volume of crude oil processed at Turkmenbashi oil refineries complex, which is the largest enterprise of Turkmenistan, reached 3.3 million tons, a report of the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan said.

"In comparison with the same period of the last year, the volume of processing of 'black gold' increased by 67.5 thousand tons, growth rates amounted to 102 percent," the report said.

In 2012, some 6,535 million tons of crude oil was processed by this complex.

Turkmenistan plans to bring the oil processing capacity to 15 million tons a year in 2015, and to 20 million tons in 2020, up to 22 million tons in 2025, and up to 30 million tons in 2030.

At the current stage, the country annually produces about 10 million tons of oil, the largest part of which is processed in local refineries.
