Azerbaijan, Baku, November 4/Trend, E.Ismayilov/

Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) will adopt a decision on appraisal of drilling at the prospective structure Goshadash, after the completion of a three-dimensional seismic survey, First Vice-President of the State Oil Company Khoshbakht Yusifzade told journalists on Monday.

"Drilling was suspended and currently a three-dimensional seismic survey is being carried out," he said.

According to him, the results of the seismic survey will allow the company to adopt a decision on further work on the structure. Old rigs in SOCAR's balance sheet do not allow the carrying out of qualitative drilling, therefore the State Oil Company needs a rig depending on decisions made on Goshadash.

The design depth of the well where drilling is to be carried out on Mesozoic sediments will reach 3500 metres. It is carried out by the jack-up rig Khazar-6.

The main aim of drilling is the assessment of the prospects of oil and gas content of the Mesozoic sediments in the survey area.

Goshadash is located in the north-western part of the Absheron archipelago, 15 kilometres from the coast at a distance of 35-40 kilometres from Baku. The water depth is 10-50 metres.
