No rise in Kazakh gasoline prices

By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend: The maximum retail prices for AI-92/93 gasoline will not increase by the ned of this year, the prime minister's press service said on Nov.6.

According to the press release, during a government meeting, Head of the Agency on the Regulation of Natural Monopolies (NMRA), Murat Ospanov said that by late 2013 the maximum price for AI-92/93 gasoline will not increase.

"Currently monitoring is underway and according to the data from the Oil and Gas Ministry, the price per barrel is decreasing. If the decrease by $5 continues over 30 days, then the price for 92/93 gasoline will drop by 5 tenge," the agency's head said.

Oil and Gas Minister Uzakbai Karabalin also confirmed there is no reason for an increase of prices for AI-92/93 gasoline by the year-end.

"Stability of fuel and lubricant prices is very important. You now informed me that the increase of prices for AI-92/93 gasoline is not expected by the end of 2012. Meanwhile, we now need to understand what will be prices for fuel and lubricants in 2014," the Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov said.
