Charymuhammet Khommadov was appointed chairman of Turkmengas State Concern.
Former head Kakageldi Abdyllaev was dismissed due to his transfer to another position, the Turkmen media reported on Saturday.
President Berdimuhamedov made this decision at the enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
In his article, Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary state news service refers to the president's speech. He stressed that Turkmengaz state concern must take effective measures to implement the export potential to replenish the state foreign exchange earnings.
"For example, one can increase the volume of production and sale of liquefied gas and other products that are in high demand on the global markets," the president said.
While stressing the unsatisfactory affairs in Turkmengaz state concern, President Berdimuhamedov dismissed Kakageldi Abdyllaev due to his transfer to another job. Charymuhammet Khommadov having great experience in this field was appointed to this position.
Turkmenistan is one of the key natural gas suppliers in the Caspian region supplying fuel to China, Russia and Iran. An additional gas pipeline to Russia (the Caspian Sea - through Kazakhstan), to Europe (via the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan and Turkey) and India (Trans-Afghanistan through Pakistan) are among the discussed projects.
Turkmengaz state concern develops gas and gas condensate fields; produces gas and gas condensate, processes natural gas, transports gas, gas condensate and liquefied gas, exports gas and sells it within the country.
