SOCAR announces volume of drilling work for July

In January-July 2014, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has carried out drilling operations (excluding joint ventures and operating companies) in the volume of 81,123 meters versus 92,428 meters in the same period of 2013, the company reported.

Some 79,495 meters out of total volume of drilling performed by SOCAR for seven months accounted for production drilling (in January-July, 2013 - 86 670 meters), and the remaining part - for exploratory drilling.

SOCAR carried out drilling operations (except joint ventures and operating companies) in the volume of 8,993 meters in July, 2014. Drilling work performed in July, was operational.

In 2013, SOCAR carried out drilling work in the volume of 142, 656 meters versus
136, 441 meters in 2012. Some 135,665 meters out of the total drilling work carried out in 2013, accounted for production drilling, and 6,991 meters -for exploratory drilling.

SOCAR includes the Azneft production association (company producing oil and gas onshore and offshore) and the Azkimya production association (chemical industry) and the Azerigaz production association (gas distribution).

Together with foreign partners, SOCAR participates in major projects such as the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of oil and gas fields and the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field in the Caspian Sea.
