By Huseyn Hasanov- Trend:

The multivariate transnational gas pipeline infrastructure is planned to be created to supply Turkmen gas to Europe, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said during his official visit to Slovenia, the Turkmen government said May 14.

"At present, Turkmenistan's agenda also includes the European vector," the president said. "A quadripartite meeting has been recently held in Ashgabat. The heads of the fuel and energy complexes of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and EU representatives attended the meeting."

The priorities for the Turkmen natural gas supply to Europe were discussed during the working talks," the president said. "This envisages the joint creation of the multivariate transnational gas pipeline infrastructure."

The head of state said that Turkmenistan is a gas power.

He went on to add that according to the audit carried out by the Gaffney, Cline and Associates British company, reserves of Galkinish field only are estimated at 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas, which indicates the enormous potential of Turkmenistan.

Berdimuhammadov drew attention to the fact that Ashgabat focuses international attention on a number of energy security issues, which depends on producer, transit country and consumer.

"This also includes pricing issues directly related to global energy prices," the president said.

A 300-kilometer gas pipeline across the bottom of the Caspian Sea is needed for Turkmen gas to enter European markets. Gas can then be transported by land - via Azerbaijan and Turkey. These countries initiate the establishment of appropriate energy infrastructure within the framework of the TANAP project (Trans-Anatolian Pipeline).
