SOCAR has 61.32-percent share in Turkey's Petkim Petrochemical Holding.

SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, vice-presidents Suleyman Gasimov, Elshad Nasirov and Badal Badalov, head of Investment Department and board member of SOCAR Turkey Vagif Aliyev reviewed the implementation process of the investment project in Petkim peninsula in Turkey, according to the message.

SOCAR's leadership attended the presentations on Star Refinery, Petlim port and Petkim complex, said the message.

Rovnag Abdullayev praised Petkim's financial results in H1 of 2015 and emphasized the high level of production efficiency, said the message on SOCAR's website.

"SOCAR's president drew the attention to the fact that the work at Star refinery is going on schedule and expressed confidence that the operation of Petlim port will start soon," said the message.

The State Oil Company's leadership also took part in the groundbreaking ceremony of Star refinery's laboratory and reviewed the 300-meter breakwater and 700-meter ferry.

Petkim produces plastic packages, fabric, detergents and is the sole Turkish manufacturer of such products, a quarter of which is exported.

The annual naphtha production volume, used by Petkim as the main raw material, will hit 1.66 million tons at the Star refinery.

Along with naphtha, the new oil refinery will produce diesel fuel with ultra-low sulfur to the amount of 5.95 million tons, aviation kerosene - 500,000 tons, reformate - 500,000 tons, petroleum coke - 630,000 tons, liquefied gas - 240,000 tons, mixed xylene - 415,000 tons, olefin LPG - 75,000 tons and 145,000 tons of sulfur. The refinery will not produce petrol and fuel oil.

It is planned to refine Azeri Light, Kerkuk and URALS oil at the plant.
